Team meeting at University of Georgia, Athens

Logistics

Hotel info: The UGA Hotel and Conference Center, 1197 South Lumpkin Street, Athens, GA 30602-3603

Meeting location: Room 322, Physics Building

Meeting time: Benhui Yang will open the room at 8am. Benhui is in room 325B. I can't arrive until 9:30am, but feel free to start any time.

Coffee breaks: 11am and 3:30pm, but coffee should be available in the seminar room by 9am or so.

Contact info: Phillip Stancil, room 325A, 404-434-7958 (Atlanta area cell number - it is a long distance call from Athens)

Wireless: Guest accounts should be ready before Wednesday (more info soon). Wireless is PAWS.

Online journal access: http://www.libs.uga.edu/, click "Journal" tab, enter journal name, return, choose an option for the journal provider (e.g. AIP), enter password=invoice when prompted. You can try from home or the hotel.

Food: There is a restaurant and a cafeteria in the Hotel. You can have breakfast in the cafeteria. The restaurant (Savannah Room) may be your best option for dinner Wednesday. If you are feeling adventurous, you can take a hotel shuttle north on Lumpkin St. to down town (or maybe Ryan can pick you up). There are three main streets filled with restaurants of all varieties. Some examples: NONA (Cajun seafood), Porterhouse Grill (steaks, etc.), Last Resort (modern southern), Da Palma's (Italian), Bombay Cafe (Indian), etc. A little north west (Prince St.) there is The Grit (vegetarian), also a nice Thai restaurant. A block south on Lumpkin there is a trendy, low-budget Mexican place. Another block south is a 5 star restaurant, the Five and Ten. For lunch, you can go to the student center food court/cafeteria. Downtown there is the trendy The National.

People who fly will arrive at the Atlanta airport. There are two shuttle bus services between the airport and the University of Georgia. The traditional shuttle costs about $35 each way. Ryan found a new service which costs $1 each way if you book on line.

Phillip sends links giving local information here and here. The University on-site hotel is here. The shuttle bus goes directly to this hotel from the Atlanta airport.

We will meet all day Thursday and Friday May 17 and 18, and part of Saturday the 19th.
